50 handmade postcards sent to Mackay from artists across the globe offered in a silent auction. Framed original prints, bidding starts at $20.

The postbox door squeaks open and sitting inside is a colourful postcard sent from faraway. Every time a member of Prinbank Mackay stops by the post office the excitement of that discovery awaits them. With close to 150 hand-printed postcards coming in from across the globe, Printbank Mackay is set to host their second International Postcard Swap. Artist's from far and wide have created an edition of three identical prints and sent them here to Mackay for exhibition. In return each participant will receive artworks from two others. The third print being auctioned to the public and funds raised will assist the local artist's group. “This year's event is set to be even better than the last.” said Traci Lietzke, one of the projects coordinators, “Through a generous offering by Nick Flor, the owner of shop 94 on Victoria Street, our entire collection will be exhibited in the store front window, so the public can stop by any time during the exhibition and view a diverse range of printmaking techniques.” Thanks to Juanita from Carroll's Newsagency, the group is using the Victoria St shop for the exhibition, auction and workshops. The exhibition will be on display at 94 Victoria from the 11-26 September, with the silent auction taking place on September 22. Bidding starts at 6:30pm and refreshments will be served. All are welcome. “This auction is a great opportunity for the people of Mackay to purchase an artists original print at a very reasonable price.” said Printbank president, Judy Rose, “Printbank has been participating in the community for 13 years and money raised will help the group continue to share printmaking with Mackay.” Printbank members will be in the pop-up gallery on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 from 10am to 3pm. Stop by to place a bid, learn about printmaking and make your own postcard to take home. “The prints we have received are Wow!
