First day student Clare Kearney (nee Keogh) has her ticket and is looking forward to the dinner dance. Clare, one of a family of seven girls, remembers walking to school from Brodribb Street. She was 13 years old when she attended and still has an inscribed book she won when she was there. see pic attached Clare's contemporaries Jessie and Betty Bourke will also be making the trip from Woollongabba to attend. Betty recalls how the classrooms were rearranged on a Friday afternoon in preparation for Sunday Mass. Mass was always full and the verandah overflowing with soldiers from the camp in Newtown Park. Her twin, Jessie Bourke is looking to collect on a bet made circa 1940: "I am still waiting for my my 10 shillings that 2 boys (can't remember their names) who bet me (when I was 12) to jump from the top verandah to the playground below). I did it very well". Another first day student Greta Watson is very excited about the festivities also. Her family have had four generations attend the school. All Our Lady of Lourdes community members both past and present are warmly invited to attend the festivities.
