MAKIN. Lt George Leslie. (Les) Enlisting on 18th Aug 1914 as a 20 year old Les left Australia on 21st Oct 1914 on the Orviete. After surviving Gallipoli Les was fatally wounded in St Martin s Wood on the western front whilst leading his platoon and died 100 years ago on this day. 'Never forget Uncle Les'
