YOUR VIEWS: on curfews at local pubs and clubs
THE Bully asked for readers' thoughts on proposed new lock-out laws to tackle alcohol-fuelled violence.
The proposed laws would see clubs and pubs stop serving high alcohol content drinks such as shots at midnight, lock patrons out at 1am and stop the service of alcohol at 3am.
Finley Field: As a bouncer of many years across many cities in QLD and NSW, I don't think it's particularly worse than anywhere else. They do seem to get away with it more here though, much softer sentences.
Daylen Morgan: And the girls punch on more than the blokes anyway.
Tom Wotherspoon: You read in the paper all the time about violence in the community but for me personally I have no problem with going to the CBD, never been bothered my anyone
Jy Elk: Has nothing to do with drugs or alcohol.......it has to do with respect. The generation going out now have none.
Terry Grant: When there's nothing else to do in a community what do you expect? We are a community of nearly 100,000 people and the best way to spend the weekend for most people is going to the pub.
Teena Evans: I don't think its alcohol. I think its a drug/alcohol mix. And because it costs so much to go out now people are using and drinking before they hit the clubs,
Scott Reynolds: I've heard baby-boomers from Rocky talking about waiting for buses at the post office after the movies in the 60s and seeing thugs walking around king hitting people for no reason. There's more happening now due to the increase of population.
