YOUR STORY: Just close the beaches and be done with it

AS authorities in charge of beaches on the Far North Coast are continuing to allow a rapid increase of shark numbers along the coast without the politically incorrect but sensible term of 'culling' being part of the discussion, perhaps then when sightings begin to occur on a daily basis, as they are starting to, beaches could be permanently closed.

This would not only make sure no more nasty incidents take place but it would also put a stop to potential drownings.

Councils would not have to employ lifeguards and surf clubs could be turned into cafes and shark and whale observation sites.

The tourism industry may suffer a downturn but those lovable toothy killers could rule the waves and the public would be forced back into their rightful habitat as was the case a century ago.
