Women of Woodstock pays homage to rock goddesses

REVISIT the magical sounds behind the world's greatest rock music festival from July 19-21, when Brisbane Powerhouse celebrates the 50th anniversary of Woodstock by paying homage to the iconic women who performed there and that helped define a generation.

Women of Woodstock revisits and reflects on the music of greats such as Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, Melanie Safka and Grace Slick.

Led by Women in Voice veteran Leah Cotterell and joined by Hannah Grondin, Jacqui Marshall and Generations in Jazz Festival Scholarship winner Adelina Martinez, Women of Woodstock celebrates them and their ongoing impact on music makers and music lovers ever since.

Starting in 1993, Women in Voice is a Brisbane musical institution, providing Queensland's female vocalists with a way to share their artistry with a devoted and loyal audience.

From humble beginnings at the Sitting Duck Cafe, Women in Voice has found many different homes over the years and since 2017 have presented their shows at Brisbane Powerhouse.

Women in Voice is proud to have amongst its alumni singers such as Chrissie Amphlett, Sahara Beck, Deborah Conway, Carol Lloyd, Kate Miller-Heidke and Katie Noonan.

Women of Woodstock will be performed at the Visy Theatre.

Tickets: Adult $49*; Concession $45* (*plus transaction fee of $6.90).

On Friday, July 19 at 8pm, Saturday, July 20 at 8pm and Sunday, July 21 at 6pm.

Suitable for all ages. Box office: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm and Saturday 12-4pm and 60 minutes prior to show start time.
