Winter knitting starts in summer for Dorothy
Five months ago, Active Lifestyle Estates Chambers Pines resident Dorothy Scott was looking for a way to give back to the local community in her spare time.
Ms Scott now has more than ten ladies knitting for Logan's homeless and has so far collected 40 scarves that will be donated just in time for winter 2016.
"I know there are lots of community groups in Logan providing food and services for our city's homeless, and I thought I might be able to assist by knitting as many scarves as I could before May next year," Ms Scott said.
"I mentioned the idea to some of my neighbours and women in my walking group and before I knew it, I had 12 ladies knitting up a storm."
After such success close to home, Ms Scott is extending an invitation to other Logan residents looking for a way to contribute to their local community. "I'm excited to see how many scarves we could have completed by May 2016 - hopefully enough for every homeless person in Logan. "I'm also collecting socks from those who can't knit - so I hope everyone is able to contribute in one way or another."
Anyone wishing to donate to Ms Scott's charity efforts may drop scarves, socks or beanies to Active Lifestyle Chambers Pines, 2 Koplick Road, Chambers Flats between 9am and 5pm.
