LISMORE wood artist Grant Vaughan's work is on display at the Lismore Regional Galley through to September 8. Vaughan's belies the expectations of worked timber. Taking inspiration from the organic forms of natural objects, it offers an impression of growth and honours the inherent beauty of wood. Vaughan has worked in the Lismore area (from his Rock Valley studio) for more than thirty years. His work is represented in many public and private collections including the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; Parliament House Art Collection, Canberra; Power House Museum, Sydney and Museum of Fine Art, Boston. Vaughan has exhibited in Australia, the United State and in the United Kingdom, but this is his first solo exhibition in the Northern Rivers.

BASKETBALL is one of three new sports being played as part of the 2019 Lismore Workers Masters Games - and new players are wanted, The basketball comp will be played during the Lismore Workers Masters Games from September 27-29 at Trinity Sports Hall and is open to men and women aged 35 and over. Convenor Matt Barlow said basketball is something many Australians love, and he encouraged everyone including beginners to join a team for the inaugural competition.

"According to research by Sweeney Sports, one in three Australians have an interest in basketball, so we're hoping for a great turn out of players and spectators. If you're sitting at home reading this and realise you are one of the one in three, sign up and have some fun," Matt said. THERE will be a felt shoe making workshop at 7 Sibley Street Nimbin's Sustainable Living Hub. Bookings are essential for this Felting workshop. Work will focus on creating a pair of Felt shoes/slippers. This workshop will run across two days on Tuesday July 16 and Tuesday July 23 from 10.30am. Cost is $50 which includes all materials.

NORTHERN Rivers Stained Glass aims to grow glass creativity in the community. Beginner, intermediate and refresher classes will be held throughout the year in six week learning blocks - two hours each week on a set day in the evening, join a small group of six people max. to design and create a stained glass project. 12 hours inclusive of all materials. THIS year's O'Heart Festival coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock, on the weekend of August 16 - 18. There will be a full program of events lining up, including a Wellness Festival at the Tyalgum Hall, a Sustainability Festival on the parklands across from the General Store, an Environmental Art lounge at the Butter Factory, and live music and stalls throughout the village all weekend. Most of Festival is FREE to the public; with only a few ticketed events. There are plenty of fun activities for kids to enjoy, and lots of family-friendly areas to chill out between workshops, presentations and gigs.
