CYCLING is a great way to stay fit, but being on the roads can make you nervous. Learn to ride the roads confidently, safely and become a better cyclist with an expert, Jenny Alcorn. This is for intermediate riders, only 10 people a session, and it is free. You will need to bring your own drinking water, helmet, bicycle and sunscreen. NATURALLYGC's Birds of the Bush Photography Walk is from 6.30-8.30am on Saturday, February 1. If you think bird watching and/or photography is something you would like to become more involved with, why not go along and improve your bird identification and nature photography skills. THE Night Market at Carrara Markets, every Friday and Saturday from 5-9pm, is a cheap, easy night out for all ages. There are all the usual market stalls plus more than 30 cafes, food tents and bars, 36-hole mini-golf, kids' rides plus bands and buskers. Entry is $3 at the door, which gives you a $4 voucher to use inside the markets. And on the first Saturday of each month, car enthusiasts are welcomed with the Cool, Custom & Classic Car Nights. Next car night is Saturday, February 1.
THE City of Gold Coast Australia Day Celebrations on January 26 are at Broadwater Parklands, Southport. It is a free event from 4-8pm with a fireworks display at 7.45pm. There will be heaps of food vendors to choose from, local talent on the main stage and activities galore for the grandkids. The event will support Aussie Farmers.
NIGHT at PROMS
A VALENTINE'S Evening at The Proms Spectacular is a salute to the famous BBC Proms Concerts of London's Royal Albert Hall, which are full of variety and colour. Join violinist Ian Cooper with opera stars, prima ballerinas, pipe band, can-can dancers and the Blue Danube Orchestra. It's all at HOTA on Friday, February 14. Adult tickets are $79.
