WHAT YOU SAID: Flynn MP should pay the money back

THE Observer's social networkers had plenty to say after it was announced that Flynn MP Ken O'Dowd claimed $2100 at taxpayers' expense to attend the Bledisloe Cup with his wife last year.

He claimed the expenses were all "above board".

Here is what you had to say:

Sos N Scotty Oliver: How is it above board did you have a parlimentary meeting with the team

Lana Jean Rhodes: You are a joke O'Dowd!!! If you don't get to see your wife often enough then how about you give up destroying our region and retire!! You have done absolutely nothing for this region since you were elected!!!!

Michael Miedecke: Just like Abbot claiming expenses for his so called charity bike rides and Hockey claiming expenses for staying in his wife's house in Canberra. Absolutely morally wrong but within the rules that only apply to Politicians. Just hope people remember these things at the next Election.

Jenni Tidd: Mp's get paid enough, they should pay for flights etc from their own pocket!!
Then tax payers money can be better utilised elsewhere

Michael Prasser: Didn't know the Bledisloe Cup had anything to do with this region your over payed now hopefully this get more people interested in how our tax dollars are spent

Barbara Reid: So yeah I get that the tax payers may have been paying for his flight to Canberra but when were we going to be paying for overnight accommodation & flights for his wife? What can't you manage those expenses yourself? Even though you might be 'entitled to' when does your moral voice step in and tell you that's not a fair business/parliamentary expense?

David Crook: Oh look..another dishonest politician... what a joke...vote socialism and the people might actually get somewhere.. labour and libs are both lining their own pockets..

Robert Kelly: What a rip off, should be made to pay the money back......should not use a position of trust, to be abused by unnecessary parliamentary travel claims, should be used to promote the local area and its residents that you were elected to represent, not for personal fulfilment

James Romire Wragg: Pay it back ken
