What do you mean another wife?
THIS is one book that after the first chapter I chose not to do my usual thing of savouring a book slowly by reading slowly, and from time to time.
I found myself quite happily devouring it at every free moment I had.
Michael Robotham's The Other Wife is promoted as a tale of a secret wife, a secret life and a killer who knows. And, that's where it takes you, into an imaginary world where you're just not sure what is around the corner, but when it comes, it hits.
There is the older couple William and Mary who have been married for 60 years. The husband is a celebrated surgeon with self-assurance part of his charm. Mary is a blindly devoted wife.
They have had a family and a good life together. But, so has William and Olivia, his other wife.
It seems that for one-third of his life with Mary, William has been living a double life.
Olivia was once a tennis star, with a complicated personal background and professional career long since faded.
Clinical psychologist and William's son Joe is called to his father's hospital bed after a brutal and confusing attack in his home. It's from here everything Joe once knew is turned completely upside down.
He is confronted by a stranger crying at William's bedside. She is covered in his father's blood.
Just working out who she is, is only the little start of this big psychological thriller that twists and turns its way through an amazing journey of revelation, confusion and drama that is completely riveting.
