Anti-immigration and anti-racism protesters in violent clash
VIOLENCE between anti-racism and anti-immigration activists has again broken out in Melbourne.
Despite a huge police presence yesterday in the CBD to keep opposing rallies apart, scuffles broke out and several arrests were made.
The anti-immigration group of about 60 activists was outnumbered about two to one by the anti-racism group, who chanted lines such as "No hate, no fear, fascists not welcome here".
The Victorian Police Minister will bring in new police powers and higher penalties to deal with protesters who cover their faces with masks.
