Villa Rustica to host series of artistic workshops

VILLA Rustica in the Byron Bay Hinterland is hosting a series of creative events entitled "The Makers' Workshops."

Drawing upon expert teachers, small groups are able to develop new creative skills in the villa's exotic surrounds.

Influencer and teacher Turiya Bruce has been practicing art for over 40 years.

She is well known in the area for her public art installations of Mosaic and Mural in the Byron Shire and the Lismore and Tweed Shires too.

She has also had many local group and solo shows. Turiya has been trained and self-trained in many different art media including mixed media.

One of her loves is Monotyping. Turiya spent many fun years creating monotypes on her bench top with pieces of thick glass, oil printing ink and a trusty brayer.

Then she discovered Gelli plates, the latest innovation in monotyping form the U.S.

These plates and the combination of Open from Golden Paints has sent her straight to creative heaven!

She is also a Golden Artist Educator with Golden Artist Paints from New York, USA.

The location at Villa Rustica will seduce you with faded charm and rustic elegance.

At its heart is a tranquil Moroccan-style courtyard and swimming pool surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

The architectural facades on each side of the villa are a photographer's dream, and the property is available to hire for elopements, private events and styled photoshoots.

For those seeking to retreat from the everyday, Villa Rustica offers self-contained accommodation in a two-bedroom cottage adjoining the villa or overnight stays in the exotic Jaipur Suite.

The villa has a long association with art, and weekend art retreats are conducted throughout the year. The ceramic studio of Greg Furney is also housed in the northern section of the villa.
