Free travel: Seniors given licence to roam for festival
NOW here's a good reason to pack up and move to Victoria: free travel!
The State Government has announced that all Victorian Seniors Card holders will be given licence to roam with free travel across the state as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival.
For eight days - the festival runs from 8 to 15 October - seniors can travel from Melbourne to Wodonga, Lakes Entrance to Horsham … and they don't have to pay a cent!
The free travel applies to trains, trams and buses and regional trains, coaches and buses with the government hoping seniors will take advantage of the offer and come out in droves for the festival.
"We are thrilled to give our seniors a free ride across eight days of the festival," Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing Martin Foley said.
"The Seniors Festival is a way to thank and celebrate our older Victorians for the role they play and the contributions they make to our communities."
Now if only the Queensland and New South Wales government's would give us free travel for our Seniors Weeks!
