The last time our Constitution was reviewed was in 2007.

Members will be asked to approve the new Constitution at a Special Meeting to follow the AGM. Annual General Meeting The Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday  March 16 at 2PM.

The principal business of the AGM is to elect your committee and to receive the audited accounts. Nominations for Election You are urged to consider nominating for a position on the committee. Nomination forms are available at the front desk and from your tutors.

Remember that a nominee must be financial, as must the nominator and the seconder. Completed nomination forms must be handed in at the front desk no later than March 2.

Garden News

You may have noticed that our garden bed now has some rich, dark soil and is ready for planting. Several members have indicated their interest in being part of the garden club. The plan is to have a productive garden. Holes are dug for the planting of passionfruit vines on the back fence and along the western fence to the end of the toilets.

It is proposed that other parts of the garden should have lemon, lime, dwarf macadamia and mango trees. Remember the story of the Little Red Hen? Those who toil will have first dibs on the produce from our garden. Southern Beaches Community Garden is our partner in the establishment of our garden. They have helped with our grant submission (that provided the money to fund the garden), they will provide us with seedlings and they will lend their expertise in other ways.

Produce Swap at Southern Beaches Community Garden Each Thursday afternoon at 4PM there is a produce swap at the garden behind the Tugun Community Centre.

Our members are welcome to bring their produce to swap with that of SBCG members.

Macramé Covered Tomato Pots for the Bleach Festival

The SBCG is producing 70 macramé covers for tomato pots for use at the Bleach Festival. They have invited U3A Twin Towns to be part of the project. If you'd like to take part, ring Di Gunther 0407 739 509.

Grant Applications

Two applications for grants are currently being prepared. One is to the Community Benefit Fund for wind protection for our veranda. The other is to COTA for assistance with our senior's Week celebration.

Planning Day

The next Planning Day will be held on 9 April at Boyd Street from 9am. All members are welcome to contribute to the planning for our future. Please advise the desk if you wish to attend

The 2016 State Conference is being organised by U3A Sunshine Coast. It is to be held at the University of Southern Queensland on 2 and 3 June 2016. All news regarding registrations and the program will be made available as it comes to hand. --
