UPDATE: Man airlifted to Brisbane after crash at Nikenbah

UPDATE: A man involved in a two-vehicle crash at Nikenbah has been flown to Brisbane with a fractured back.

The truck driver was airlifted from Hervey Bay on Tuesday night.

The wife of the man said he was in a stable condition but was in a "lot of pain".

Hervey Bay police Senior Constable Shannon Gray said crash happened when a ute went "straight through the stop sign" at the corner of Chapel and Madsen Rds.

EARLIER: Two people were in a stable condition after a crash on the corner of Madsen Rd and Woods Rd in Nikenbah.

The front of the ute was smashed in after a collision with a truck on Tuesday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics transported the patients to the Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.

One was treated for neck pain and the other suffered back pain and a head laceration.

A Queensland Police spokesman said police were called to the crash about 8.30am.

He said the injuries were not believed to be serious.

Officers directed traffic around the crash as debris was cleared.
