Tumbulgum to host highlight of Tweed River Festival
THE main event of Tweed Shire Council's 2016 Tweed River Festival on Saturday, November 12, is Tumbulgum Celebrates 150 Years.
Situated at the "meeting place of waters", the confluence of the Rous (North Arm) and Tweed rivers, the picturesque village of Tumbulgum makes an ideal setting for the Tweed River Festival, with Wollumbin Mt Warning a fitting backdrop.
This year's festival theme is Join Us at The Junction, commemorating the original settlement of Tweed Junction in 1866.
The River Festival includes a week of activities highlighting the environment and community, and culminates with the main event in Tumbulgum, featuring family-friendly entertainment, workshops, food, historical display and the popular lantern parade on November 12.
Tumbulgum is known as the most accessible of the Tweed's rural villages.
It is a destination for visitors who come by boat and road to enjoy fishing, a barbecue by the river, water activities, the surrounding views, village amenities including four great eateries, a gallery and shops and the historic (1913) Tumbulgum Hall which is available for rentals.
