Departing Australia on November 22, 2017, the most extensive NZ itinerary Cruise Express has ever offered begins with a five-night cruise from Sydney to Auckland via Tauranga aboard Holland America Line's 1200 passenger ship, Maasdam.

After two nights in Auckland, the 18-day coach tour commences with a drive to the beautiful Bay of Islands where guests will learn about the history of the Maori people from a local, indigenous guide before returning to Auckland to visit the 328-metre- high Sky Tower - the tallest building in the southern hemisphere.

The geothermal wonders of Rotorua follow, with its famous geysers, steaming mud pools and craters.

The tour then heads south to Wellington, stopping at Napier along the way.

An inter-island ferry will transfer guests across to the South Island, taking in views of Wellington city and its hillside suburbs, before making their way to the alpine resort town of Hanmer Springs, renowned for its therapeutic thermal pools.

At the end of the coach tour in Christchurch, a bonus, 20-minute helicopter ride over Christchurch will showcase the region's majestic alpine scenery before guests fly back to Auckland for a three-night stay.

In Auckland, the itinerary includes a half-day winery tour by ferry to Waiheke Island, an idyllic land of farms, vineyards, forests and seaside villages, plus a complimentary, 15-minute seaplane flight above Auckland as well as the craters of the Rangitoto Island and Brown Island volcanoes.
