Experience the Galle Literary Festival with Jennifer Byrne

JOIN Australian journalist and television presenter Jennifer Byrne as she leads the Secret Women's Series, unique Sri Lankan Tales tour.

The one-off tour, organised by the Classic Safari Company, is a 12 day journey that showcases Sri Lanka's beguiling blend of tantalising cuisine, UNESCO World Heritage sites, Buddhist philosophy, lush landscapes, breathtaking wildlife and culminates in attending Sri Lanka's famed, annual Galle Literary Festival.

The tour goes from the country's contemporary gateway, and capital, Colombo through the Cultural Triangle formed by Kandy, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura.

These three great Sinhalese capitals encapsulate one of the most extraordinary collections of Buddhist art and architecture in the world.

Heading south you will explore verdant, emerald green, undulating tea trails before delving into Yala National Park in search of elusive leopards, majestic elephants, sloth bears and sambars.

Galle Fort is the final destination where, accompanied by Jennifer, you will participate in a series of literary discussions while rubbing shoulders with international literati. The festival explores a variety of themes with international and local author participation and a range of free events. Discussions, debates, panels, poetry readings, cookery demonstrations, gourmet tastings plus live music and cultural performances all take place.

The Secret Women's Series was launched last year and offers unique special interest tours to small groups of like-minded women and led by an expert in her field.

The tour starts and finishes in Colombo. It will run from June 9 to 20, 2019. The cost is US$9880 per person twin share. A single supplement will apply to solo travellers.
