Macrame queen unravels India

TAKE a creative journey through India with expert interior designer and textile artist, Natalie Miller, as she weaves her way through Jodhpur, Jaipur, Agra and Delhi.

The Classic Safari Company guided 10-day tour is for travellers seeking a deeper appreciation and understanding of Indian textiles and the role they play within Indian cultures both ancient and modern.

The 'queen of macrame', Natalie will guide and interpret as the small group travels through an astounding country diverse in its people, landscapes, religions, architecture and textiles. India is a sumptuous treat for the culturally curious.

The immersive tour starts in the photogenic 'blue city' of Jodhpur where you will discover ancient forts, tribal cultures and the centuries-old tradition of carpet weaving on heritage hand looms before moving onto Jaipur, the home of block printing.

From here you journey to Agra to witness the Taj Mahal, visiting at the quieter times of sunrise and sunset when the light is soft and the atmosphere is calm. Continuing the journey you visit the Wildlife SOS Conservation Centre where villagers are knitting jumpers for rescued elephants who are vulnerable to the cold temperatures, before finally arriving in Delhi.

Back in Delhi there is a rickshaw ride through the old town exploring the captivating sights, sounds and smells of everyday life, a visit to one of the largest mosques in India, Jama Masjid, and a browse through the impressive National Handicrafts and Handloom Museum.

Throughout your journey you stay in a selection of India's best art hotels, restored palaces and havelis, dine on exquisite cuisine, meet everyday people to experience authentic India and benefit from the very best guiding. Of course, you get to enjoy Natalie's interpretations along the way, as well as a the companionship of a small group of like-minded female travellers.
