Trail takes art to Murwillumbah streets

ART shouldn't be confined to galleries, and it certainly is not stifled in one space for the Murwillumbah Art Trail.

Street art will appear beneath our feet as three-dimensional creations when Murwillumbah chalk artist Amelia Batchelor takes to the pavements.

Ms Batchelor will create the eye-catching works with long-time collaborator, Dom Intelisano, to create works in three locations around Murwillumbah's CBD this Saturday and Sunday.

The Murwillumbah Art Trail will run from Thursday to Tuesday and will feature a host of exhibitions and pop-up galleries throughout the town.

Art lovers can follow the trail however they wish, from the Graffiti Art Wall on Commercial Rd to Art Synergy, a group of environment-inspired artists on show at 1-3 Brisbane St from 9.30am to 4.30pm each day of the trail.

A "fox hunt" will take place with "urban focks" artist Mr Todd between Queen St and Church Lane. QR codes and GPS coordinates will teach participants about sustainability in urban environments while leading them on a hunt of stencil street art through town.

Jack Quilter will open the doors of his studio in Holston Lane, South Murwillumbah. His metal sculptures will be on show alongside his private collection of paintings, prints and sculptures by others.
