READERS DISCUSS: What the region needs to attract tourists
What do you think the region needs to attract more tourists?
Luke Stafford: We need Jetstar and Tigerair to land in Rockhampton. This way there'll be more flights here to boost tourist numbers.
Ian Dunbier: Great Keppel Island used to bring plane loads ... need it started and soon
Julie Harrigan: As a visitor about three times per year, I think return of direct flights from Sydney would be an asset. You have a beautiful unscathed area that has much to offer.
Shane Wogand: Great Keppel Is up and running.
Amy Burgess: People who wear shoes in public.
Wayne Rich: Roads, boat ramps and Great Keppel Island all need funding. These are all key to tourism on the coast, which has a flow-on effect for the prosperity for the whole area.
Michelle Michelle:
I know tourism is important, but I believe the council needs to focus more on ways to retain their residents. So many people move up for work and leave due to the lack in infrastructure and the "tourism/mining tax" on everything.
