Thousands to attend bromeliad conference
THE Sunshine Coast Bromeliad's Society has won the right to host the 19th Australasian Bromeliad's Conference to be held this weekend.
The Conference has gained extensive worldwide interest following our promotional activities at Conferences in Sydney and Hawaii
There is currently 265 people registered to attend this conference and organisers are expecting up to 1000 visitors to the conference throughout the weekend.
Inspirational world renowned speakers from the USA, New Zealand and various parts of Australia have been arranged to speak on the day.
The event will also showcase keynote speaker Chester Skotak who has ventured all the way from Costa Rica.
Skotak was the first person to produce commercial variegated Neoregelia hybrids from seed, an achievement gained him worldwide respect in the 1980's.
For over 24 years, Skotas has been working with pineapples and has his sights set on revolutionising the pineapple world.
He's also coming up with innovations for commercial fresh fruit, including red pineapples with sweet, yellow centres.
Growers use this Conference every two years to release new Bromeliads for the first time.
The public will have an opportunity to purchase and view these new plants between 9am and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, 1-2 April at The Events Centre, Caloundra.
