Thicker than Water production to premier at HORIZON fest

WHEN: Friday 2 September 2016

THE Caloundra Film Festival proudly presents the debut feature film by local resident Madeleine Kennedy.

Thicker Than Water is a story that explores the fragility of family: the one we are born into, the one we choose, and the one we try to escape.

Orphaned at a young age, Ludmiller Puvmaskanin is the sole caretaker of her three brothers.

D, the eldest and a recovering drug addict, has been missing for over a week and Ludmiller is struggling to keep the frayed bonds of her family together.

When D finally returns to make a fresh start, the fragile reunion is disrupted by the unwelcomed arrival of Nic Townsend, D's old drug lord, who attempts to bring D back into his dark past.

Whilst dealing the reappearance of Nic, Jon - Ludmiller's old flame - re-emerges after three years of absence, exposing the raw wounds of their lost love.

Family ties bend and break as Ludmiller fights desperately against D, Jon and the mistrust rooted deep within her heart.

However, when the Puvmaskanin family is forced to cross Nic, to save a young boy Chris from sexual abuse, Ludmiller must let Jon, her friends and her family in, and learn that to be strong is to survive, but to be loved is to live.

Pete Murray in his cinematic debut, alongside Anthony Brandon Wong, Chai Romruen, Philippe Klaus, Brad McMurray, Ellie Popov, Madeleine Kennedy, Josh Kieser, James McEnery.

Thicker than Water packs an intense dramatic punch and was also shot around the region.
