The proms a musical treat

AUSTRALIA'S most acclaimed international violinist Ian Cooper is joined by a host of talent when An Afternoon At The Proms - A Musical Spectacular comes to Caloundra.

Opera stars, prima ballerinas, Australia's current champion Pipe Band, world-famous piano maestro and the Blue Danube Orchestra will bring some of history's most-loved music to life.

They will include the masterpieces of the Viennese court, and the works of Brahms, Verdi, Puccini, Bizet and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Along with haunting renditions of Irish favourites, a touch of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the romance of the Hungarian Gypsy Orchestras, this musical and visual spectacular is set to raise the roof.

The show's performance repertoire includes Ave Maria, Time to Say Goodbye (made famous by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman), Ravel's Bolero and The Blue Danube Waltz with the ballet, a little something from Fiddler on the Roof, songs from My Fair Lady and other much-loved musicals and Strauss's famous Radetzky March.

Also on the program are Scotland the Brave with the pipe band, Amazing Grace and an absolute Proms favourite: Land of Hope and Glory.

The Events Centre, Caloundra, will host the performance on Sunday, October 16, at 2pm.

Tickets are: full price $75, concession and students $69.
