Alstonville Public School has a proud tradition of competing in the Premier's Debating Challenge each year under the leadership of teacher Kim Wheatland. The students are busy preparing for this competition by enlisting the help of past students from Alstonville High School. Each week Finn, Riley, Eva, Jess, Evie, Charlotte and Chiara give up their time to mentor their teams as we explore concepts such as brainstorming ideas, the allocation of ideas to speakers and learning to give effective rebuttal. The aim of this collaboration is to share knowledge from the past students who have debated very effectively, with most students having attending the State Debating Camp during Primary School. We are looking forward to being very prepared for the upcoming Premier's Debating Challenge and we would love to thank our peers for setting the high standard which we are aiming to uphold proudly during 2016.
