Steel guitarist puts his foot to the pedal for April event
YOUR STORY: Dalby's veteran pedal steel guitarist Jim Priebe will be the special guest artist at the Garden City Country Music Association's April social.
Jim will entertain fans, along with members of the Garden City Country Music Association, at the Trinity Lutheran Church Hall, Hume Street, Toowoomba, on Sunday April 10, commencing at 1pm.
A pedal steel guitarist for nearly 40 years, Jim has played back-up for top artists including the late Jimmy Little, John McSweeney, Anne Kirkpatrick and Evelyn Bury.
He also remembers backing a 16 year old country singer by the name of Troy Casser-Daley on the Coca Cola show in Tamworth, where he was a member of the back-up band for several years.
In 1983, Jim formed his own band 'Hell 4 Leather' beginning a three year stint at the Settlers Inn hotel in Toowoomba.
The group performed all over Southern Queensland and Tamworth, disbanding in 2000.
These days, Jim mainly performs as a guest artist, in addition to some recording work with various vocalists and conducting guitar workshops.
Entry to the Association's April social is $5, with the chance of winning a lucky door prize.
Raffles and afternoon tea will also be provided.
Garden City's Socials for June and August will commence at 12 midday due to winter conditions.
