State MPs keeping a close eye on WBW developments
THE Fraser Coast's state MPs are closely watching developments in the council's attempt to take back control of Wide Bay Water, according to Maryborough MP Anne Maddern.
Mrs Maddern called on Fraser Coast Regional Council to "become professional".
"The latest resignations by Brendon Falk from the board of WBW and councillor Rolf Light from the water portfolio have just added more uncertainty to the operations of the Fraser Coast Regional Council," she said.
The council has been trying since last November to resume control of WBW.
It has abandoned the plan for now after Queensland Treasury denied the council exemption from a potential $65 million stamp duty bill.
Mrs Maddern said the State Government would do what it could to assist the council.
"It is currently evaluating whether having a councillor on the WBW board would help end the instability."
