Chilli Con Carne

RECIPE: Spicy Chlli con carne

Make it as hot as you like, serve with boiled rice or use for a topper for Beef Nachos or baked potatoes just add sour cream, avocado and grated tasty cheese for a delicious meal


500 grams lean minced beef

1 large brown onion, diced

1 heaped tablespoon ground cumin

1 beef stock cube, or tablespoon beef stock powder

2 cloves garlic, crushed

1 teaspoon ground chilli powder (you can use fresh chillies if you have them or dried chilli)

1 teaspoon sugar

1 400gm can diced tomatoes (or dice 3-4 large fresh tomatoes)

1 400gm can red kidney beans - drained and rinsed.

1 ½ tablespoons tomato paste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt -add to taste if required

Hot sweet chilli sauce (check flavour before adding)



In a large saucepan add oil, sauté onion then add mince to brown.

Add all remaining ingredients and simmer till meat is tender.

Adjust the flavours to suit, adding more salt or chilli sauce as desired
