Splendid newlyweds honeymoon at fest

NEWLYWEDS Michael and Anna Jefferies couldn’t think of a better honeymoon than Splendour in the Grass.

Splendour holds special significance for the young Townsville couple.

Michael proposed to Anna at the 2009 festival, the last one to be held in Byron Bay.

“I had my suspicions,” said Anna.

“We drove down to the festival and on the way we stopped to visit my parents. I caught him in the process of asking my parents’ permission.”

But the couple had trouble convincing their mates that they were engaged.

“He wouldn’t let me wear the engagement ring because he thought I’d lose it,” she laughed.

Now two years later they are celebrating their June 11th nuptials at Woodfordia.

And they don’t seem too bothered about their unromantic accommodation – sharing a tee pee with three other friends.

“It’s just a good weekend away and there’s nothing like it in Townsville,” said Anna.

“The facilities here are fantastic.”
