South Grafton pool to reopen this Sunday
IF YOU think the wait for the South Grafton pool complex to reopen has seemed long, imagine watching as the pools fill again, creeping up 125mm every hour.
Workers refilled the pools over the past two days, and the complex is set to reopen on Sunday after extensive works were undertaken.
The work on the pool, hydrotherapy pool and gymnasium complex is almost complete after closing in March.
Clarence Valley Council works and civil director, Troy Anderson, said he work included major upgrades of the hydrotherapy toilet and change room amenities.
"There's also a larger storage area for the people who use the hydrotherapy pool, we've repositioned lights to make them more accessible for serviceability to reduce costs long term and carried out minor cosmetic works to the pool ceiling,
"We've also got a range of new equipment on order. It should be installed in a few weeks," Mr Anderson said.
Work on the pool included construction of a changing places bathroom and another disabled bathroom in the hydrotherapy pool area.
They replaced the roof structure above the 25m pool and installed louvres in the main pool hall for natural ventilation.
The facility was given a fresh coat of paint in addition to the pool and the hydrotherapy pool basin was painted.
Erosion on the hydrotherapy pool gutters was addressed, and insulation was installed in the main pool hall.
This work was in addition to general and electrical maintenance on the plant and equipment.
