Shop local in Lockyer Valley to celebrate Queensland Week

LOCKYER Valley residents are encouraged to shop local for their chance to score tickets to Queensland's only State of Origin game.

To mark Queensland Week 2016, Council and Lockyer Valley businesses are teaming up for this great initiative.    Businesses looking to get involved need to register their interest with Lockyer Valley Regional Council.

There is no cost to participate, businesses just need to register and collect a promotion kit.

During the promotion, customers who spend $10 or more in a single transaction at participating businesses during Queensland Week will be eligible to win two tickets to Queensland's only State of Origin Game at Suncorp Stadium on 22 June.

All participating businesses will also go into a draw to win two tickets to the match.

Council's Mayor Tanya Milligan said there was no better time to celebrate our Queensland heritage.

"Queenslanders are known for their passion around State of Origin time, so I would encourage retailers to do their bit by decorating businesses throughout the region," Cr Milligan said.

"It would be great to beat last year's number of displays."

This year, Queensland Week celebrations will be held from 4 - 12 June.
