POLICE repeatedly told a woman to drop her weapon before tasering her in front of stunned diners in Sydney's inner west on Sunday afternoon.
The 42-year-old woman was brandishing a knife on busy Victoria St in Burwood when police were called just before 1.30pm.
Shocking vision of the incident shows three police officers slowly approaching the woman, two with their tasers drawn. One fires on the woman and her rigid body slams backward onto the footpath.
Security guard Omar, who did not wish to reveal his surname, captured the vision as he knocked off work and said police warned the woman.
"While one police officer had her attention telling her repeatedly to drop her weapon another two officers came in from her blind spot with tasers out," Omar said.
"After about the fifth time telling her to drop the weapon with her still not complying he signalled the other two to act and they quickly did."
The woman was not seriously injured in the incident outside a packed cafe but was taken to Concord Hospital for a mental health assessment.
