SUNSHINE Coast dad Daniel Moore has somehow fought off a bull shark while on a surfing trip to Bali, returning to Australia with a terrifying story to tell.
Nine News reports the 48-year-old was targeted by a 1.2m shark, which he battled after it latched on to his hand.
"It happens that quick and that fast, I didn't really know what was going on," Mr Moore said.
"There was a lot of splashing going on. I knew I was in a bit of strife."
As the shark -- thought to be a bull shark -- held his right hand, Mr Moore hit it with his left.
A few blows later and the shark released its prey.
Mr Moore's son and a friend helped bring the shocked father back to shore.
From there, he headed into surgery at the BIMC Hospital in Kuta, where specialists reconstructed his hand and forearm.
Mr Moore said the attack would not keep him from enjoying the ocean, but may keep him from returning to Bali.
"I'll definitely be back in the water," he said.
"I won't be going back to Bali."
