
Seniors energised through new council program
STABILITY, balance, core and strength group activities are being offered by the Sunshine Coast Council under its Healthy Sunshine Coast Seniors program which starts this month.
The program is aimed improving the health of over 55 year olds by offering a range of free and low-cost classes in six locations across the Coast.
Mind, Body, Soul, Fitness for You fitness instructor Danielle Thompson understands the specific exercise needs of seniors.
"Each class brings stability, balance, core, progressive functional movement and fall prevention to help maintain a full and independent life," Ms Thompson said.
Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said, "Council, Sunshine 60 and Better, Resolve Fitness and YMCA Caloundra will deliver a range of fantastic physical fitness opportunities for our senior community".
In addition to the $5 classes, Resolve Fitness Club at Caloundra RSL are offering free seniors fitness classes on the first and third Wednesday of each month following by a free morning tea.
Seniors can also participate in the low-cost Sunshine 60 and Better Tai Chi, Ageless Grace, Belly Dancing, Gentle Exercise and Fun and Laughter classes.
