Seniors centre celebrates success

MEMBER for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh has congratulated the Woolgoolga Seniors' Centre on a popular award recognising its important work in the community.

Mr Singh said the centre had been declared winner of the Coffs Harbour Electorate 2020 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Award, which coincides with the NSW Seniors Festival (12-23 February).

"Woolgoolga Seniors' Centre was built some 15 years ago in a whole-of-community effort by many passionate individuals and business-owners," Mr Singh said.

"The centre has about 300 members and everyone involved strives to make it the welcoming place for which it's renowned.

"I know they're particularly proud of the many activities they provide, from exercise classes and information days to social outings and computer sessions."

Mr Singh said the centre purchased a small bus a few years ago, adding the extra option of picking up and returning home for seniors who did not have their own transport.

"I congratulate the entire team, led by the hardworking committee, for making the Woolgoolga Seniors' Centre the wonderful facility it is today," he said.

The 2020 NSW Seniors Festival has Love to Celebrate as its theme.
