Salt is a serious danger to our health
SALT is a men's health issue.
More men die of cardiovascular disease that is related to high salt intake than women, although women are not out of the danger zone.
The World Health Organisation recommends a daily dose as 5g but Australian men are consuming 10.1g and women 7.34g.
The number one cause of death in Australia is heart disease and 19,077 died in 2016.
Reducing salt intake is a certain way of living longer.
The main problem is not salt added to cooked meals but the high salt content in processed foods.
It is recommended that we check food labels to avoid high salt content foods or buy salt-reduced products.
