RSPCA Ruff Riders on the Sunshine Coast - Yes it’s on again!

THIS year, RSPCA Qld's Ruff Riders charity motorcycle ride will wind its way through 300 km of some of South East Queensland's most picturesque countryside.

Once again Super Car champion Craig Lowndes will be lending his support, although sadly, due to injury, this year he'll be unable to participate in the ride.

However he will be there at the start to welcome all riders. Now in its fifth year the ride will start at the Animal Care Campus at Wacol, the biggest animal welfare facility in the southern hemisphere, before heading inland towards the D'Aguilar National Park.

The ride will stop to enjoy the serenity at Somerset Dam, before continuing onto Rick's Garage on the beautiful Sunshine Coast for a delicious lunch.

Riders will then make their way back to Brisbane with a stop in at the RSPCA Dakabin Animal Care Campus. Here they'll get an insight into how the shelters work and what the money they've raised will be going toward.

While bikie gangs are in the news for all the wrong reasons, this group of motorcyclists are riding to raise funds to help the RSPCA and stop cruelty - animal cruelty that is.

With over 18,000 animal cruelty investigations in the past year the RSPCA is looking to educate future generations on their responsibilities to animals and simple humane values. "Cruelty and neglect are not always intended. Often people lack the simple understanding that animals feel pain and suffer and like us do not like to be left alone.

If we can help young people treat animals the way they like to be treated we hope to halve the number of incidents," said RSPCA Qld's CEO and Harley Davidson enthusiast Mark Townend.

This year, people can register to be part of Ruff Riders for the special price of $49! The registration will also get them a free Ruff Riders bandana! There's a $250 fundraising target for rider and pillion with all funds going direct to RSPCA animals in need.

The events team can provide lots of tips and hints to help riders to reach their fundraising goal and there are plenty of prizes to be won! REGISTER TODAY to join the ride to save lives! Simply download the form from RSPCA Qld's website or contact the RSPCA on: or 3426 9943.
