LETTER: Relay participants help raise $71,000

I AM writing to thank the Kawana community for their outstanding support of Cancer Council's Relay For Life at the weekend.

The event was a tremendous success. More than $71,600 was raised by 65 teams and 503 participants who walked throughout the night to help make a difference in the fight against cancer.

One person is diagnosed with cancer every 20 minutes in Queensland - on the Sunshine Coast, more than 3200 locals are diagnosed with cancer each year.

With community support we can continue to reach out and support those affected.

All funds raised through Relay For Life enable Cancer Council Queensland to invest in life-saving research, prevention programs, and patient support services.

A special thank you to the local Relay For Life committee and volunteers who gave their time to champion our cause for the community.

Because of Relay we are one step closer to a cancer-free future.

If you or a loved one needs support following a cancer diagnosis, call 13 11 20 or visit cancerqld.org.au.

Donations to Relay can still be made via relayforlife.org.au.
