Red-bellied snake pulled from under Sunshine Coast Christmas tree

Red-bellied black snake makes for unwelcome Christmas present

A SUNSHINE Coast family has received a nasty Christmas surprise after finding a red belly black snake nestled among presents under their tree.

Snake catcher Stuart McKenzie said the Mt Coolum family spotted the "Christmas red" behind their Christmas tree on Monday.

But the snake proved elusive, making an escape into a new Houdini-inspired hiding place.

"When I arrived it was nowhere to be seen, but after some searching I found it inside the bottom part of a printer which was under the TV cabinet," Mr McKenzie said.

"How it fit in there is crazy."

Mr McKenzie posted the video to The Snake Catcher 24/7 - Sunshine Coast Facebook page.
