READERS DISCUSS: Worst intersections for cyclists and cars

CONSTRUCTION is underway to improve the ever-busy Feez St roundabout in North Rockhampton.

Rockhampton Regional Council expects the $100,000 project to provide major benefits for both motorists and cyclists. Read the full story here: Council goes roundabout to ensure bikes can share safely

We asked readers on Facebook: What are the worst intersections in the region for motorists and cyclists?

Louise Goodger - All the lights at the intersection of Dean and Kerrigan Street have done is divert a lot of traffic down Berserker Street as people prefer to avoid the lights. It can sometimes take us up to half an hour to get out of our driveway at school times. I use the roundabout twice a day to go onto Moore's Creek Road and agree with you all that people really need to learn how to use single and double lane roundabouts.
Amy Burgess - Traffic from Yeppoon use Norman and Moores Creek Roads to dodge lights on the highway. Put in lights. Push that traffic back onto the highway. Just last week I saw an older driver use the left turn only lane to continue straight through the roundabout and nearly caused an accident as other motorists had to merge behind him. Way too many near misses!
Jody Walker - Cyclist ? Since when do they ....
Follow road rules
Pay/contribute for road improvement/taxes
Craig Lane - Every time they pay rates and income tax. Rego and license fee's go into state consolidated revenue.
Melissa Wilkes - There are just as many drivers of vehicles that have trouble following the road rules too.....
Jody Walker - Sorry didn't realise that you pay rego as a cyclist...
Palma Smyth - Hope they are putting in traffic lights. That roundabout ia too dangerous.
Toni Cordell - I agree. I use that round a bout daily and see so many near misses. Traffic lights would have been better.
Tamykka Carmichael - They just need to change the layout of the roundabout sometimes it takes me 15-20 minutes before I can go through it
