Read that story here: Vegemite being used to make homemade booze in dry regions
We asked readers: Other than spreading it on bread, what other uses have you found for Vegemite?
Craig Strong - Vegemite is made from beer, it's made from the leftover brewers yeast that is drained from the vats in the brewery.
Jeff Crager - What a ridiculous thing! Why stop at Vegemite? They should also ban fruit ,fruit juice, sugar, soft drink and bread yeast. All of that stuff could potentially become alcohol as well.
Debra Callaghan - Put on splinters then cover with band aid works as a drawing ointment learnt this from fisherman
Adam Gee - Why the surprise. They brew it in jail why wouldn't they take the idea home with them to the dry areas.
Matthew Schirmer - Can't believe they want to ban a product that can make alcohol so does that mean potatoes are baned to as it can make vodka?
Dexter Dexter - I use my vegemite for toast!!
Dexter Dexter - This has gotten way out of hand for the government to ban certain stuff that most have access to we all can do the same as everyone else we all can pick up a rock and throw it at someone we all can work we all can study we all can do the same things, but banning alcohol because they have fights they domestic violence what makes it different to the rest of the country having domestic's then to the indigenous yes certain quantities is too much but seriously even is entitled to the products sold within the country just like everyone else ....NOW Vegemite is used to make alcohol pffft who said that everyone is doing it who said that this guy here is this lady here is it might be one person but not all YOU MIGHT ASWELL TAKE AWAY THERE RIGHTS AS A HUMAN BEING!
