POLICE released five easy steps to follow on how to use roundabouts correctly.
Read that here: Police explain how to use a roundabout correctly
The Bulletin shared the article with readers via Facebook last week.
Here are what readers had to say:
Darryl Hutchinson - round abouts are the best and easiest way to keep taffic moving look at moores ck on peak hr it runs perfect providing people no how to read them
Susan Cunningham - Moore's Ck r'about works fine IF you're with the flow of traffic. If you're trying to go across it, you are stuck for a long time. So it doesn't work!! And is also dangerous because it's 2 lane and people try to use the inside lane as an overtaking lane.
Nicole Ramsay - I wish the police would sit at roundabouts & book the people that are going straight yet put their right blinker on so people think they are turning. Traffic has to stop for a car that was never going to cross their path
Joanne Lee - The Moores creek roundabout is dreadful too
Darren Ireland - or car put blinker on when they already on the roundabout
Brent Wesley - The biggest problem I see at roundabouts is when you have a 3 way roundabout or 4 ways roundabouts that are not a clear left straight or right. A good example of this is in Gracemere at the intersection of Gavial Road, Rosewood Ave and Breakspear St.
Mike Jensen - Treat the second exit as straight.
Mike Jensen - The principle is simple. When you approach the roundabout treat it as if it wasn't there. Indicate left to turn left, Right to turn right and don't indicate to go staight. Use the left lane to turn left, The right lane to turn right and either lane to go straight. Give way to the right. Once on the roundabout indicate left when you aproach your exit. (Treat the second exit as straight.
Warren Mienert - Another one car drivers need to know is that motorcycle are now allowed to lane split.
Keith Kelley - They fail to explain the correct procedure on single lane roundabouts. People still indicate to go on then indicate to go off if they are going straight ahead. You hardly have time to do all that and you confuse the drivers coming in the opposite direction. They slow down thinking you are turning right. If you are going through a small roundabout without turning, why indicate at all!? Stop confusing people and let go of the original lesson you were given, of 'indicate to go on, indicate to go off.'
Dallas Barnham - This definitely needs to be explained properly for the roundabout near Hogs Breath
Toulouse Dunbar - Hate that round a bout on feez st/ Moores ck
Fiona Morris - Moorescreek needs to be lights a kid going to school will be killed
David Evans - How about fines if u run an orange light fine or is that the only time they do there job
Darryl Hatchman - And still they will get it wrong.
Wayne Craig - Might be worthwhile if people actually cared what the rules were.
John Khanna - I have seen many driver on the roundabout using right blinker and going straight and they don't even use left bilnker while exiting the roundabout....
