READERS DISCUSS: Kids education on different sexualities
SHOULD primary school children be taught about different types of sexuality?
One mother says no and wrote an opinion piece explaining her reasons.
We asked readers: What do you think? Should they be taught about sex at all? What should they be taught.
Samantha Dawes - Not all parents teach children this. As many do teach their children.
Bec Charlesworth - I think children should be told when they are asked. They will learn from others eventually. But I'd rather have the bond with my own & be truthful
Joyce Phipps - they watch tv my daughter saw the ad with being left handed etc she was about 5 and wanted to knkow what it was about so I explained it to her she is fine with it she knows that not all people are the same and that some people love poeple who are the same gender as they are and with this Caitlyn Jenner thing same thing she wanted to know why so we told her and she was fine with it they need to be told as it is everywhere and they are not stupid their little brains tick over once they see or hear something
Anthony Troy Watkins - kids and all adults need to b taught how to deal with everyday problems
Hayley Daniels - How about we teach our kids real life skills- like how to submit their tax, superannuation, how to apply for a loan etc....
Karen Ferry - I think in light of what has happened to that poor girl in W. A. If it goes toward warning children about inappropriate advances from adults I am all for it. She was only 11 years old when the abuse started.
Samantha Dawes - I do as they need to Know it's okay and what their body changes are. Also it gives them some kind off understanding.
