READERS DISCUSS: Has towie gone too far with fatal photos?

HAS this towie gone too far?

Most of the Sunshine Coast Daily readers don't think so.

A Toowoomba towing company has come under fire for posting graphic photographs of vehicles involved in fatal crashes.

1300Towing posted the photos on its Facebook page with the title "A picture is worth a thousand words. Stay safe".

The cars in the photos are extensively damaged and at least one contains what appears to be blood on the driver's side door.

1300Towing wrote: "It is chilling, they were all fatalities".

Some Daily Facebook fans said it was time to stop "sugar coating" car crashes and show the public the true reality of poor choices to deter future incidents.

Followers of the tow truck company's Facebook page were not impressed, slamming the company for being insensitive and overtly graphic.

Here's a snapshot of your online debate over the graphic photos.

GRAPHIC IMAGE WARNING: A Toowoomba tow truck company has posted shocking photos of vehicles involved in fatalities on...

Debbie Little: I've been a survivor in a fatal accident , if showing the photos to others , makes someone wake up and drive more safely - then hell, go For it!

Kathy Beare: Nothing wrong with it at all. If it makes people think then it's good.

Jenny Tandberg: Not only should the pics be on the tow truck drivers site, but there should be shown on the media. I worked in road accident rescue for many years, and saw it all. We are too politically correct for fear of upsetting someone. If it is going to safe a life the show all the more. I have seen it all.

Lyn Frencham: Great idea. There is nothing else that will stop idiots but the graphic photos might. I have been to a few graphic accidents, its not nice but if it stops just one person its worth it.

Dorothy Ireland: Confronting - but it might slow some down.

James Mifsud: The tow truck driver is usually forgotten when a fatal incident happens. When someone's dies in a fatal road collision a ripple is formed that affects a wide array of people. From witnesses, bystanders, paramedics, fire crews, traffic controllers, tow truck drivers, police officers, SES rescuers, news crews, doctors, nurses, undertakers, coroners, funeral home staff, TV audiences, families and many many more.

Rebekah Barber: It's shocking! It's terrible for those involved.... And if it makes one person think before doing something stupid it's worth it.  Honour those that died by preventing others from the same fate. Good on the tow company.

Carol Brown: The reality is you cannot see bodies in these pics. I believe he did not go too far. Come on people, towies are standing there with the emergency services waiting for the coroner to carry out their role at a fatality. The towie waits until all emergency services finish and the police authorise the removal of vehicles to the towing company to remove. I would say the towie is hoping these pics will save lives. I probably helps him cope trying to do his part in educating people.

Kim Rolfe: Being a grieving mother of my son lost in a 4wd accident, seriously seeing the car doesn't make any difference to my loss. I think the photos should be shown constantly to make people aware...the driver of the car in my sons accident survived, photos of his car will remind him and others of the weapons they have in their hands.

Lisa Princess Prziovski: I say stop sugar coating these accidents yes some are just freak accidents but most are caused by drink/drug driving, speeding its about time people realise that our vehicles are not bullet proof nor are we and we must take the necessary precautions and be vigilant on the road.
