READERS DISCUSS: Is Climate Change real or spin by greenies?
THE Bulletin was interested to find out readers views about Climate Change so it asked readers via Facebook last week for their views.
Maureen Halligan - The world does not have a climate problem, it has an over population problem.
Neil North - climate change is scientific fact, it should never be confused with opinion...
Wayne Forday - I am very worried about renewable energy. If we keep installing solar energy panels and wind turbines, the sun will quickly cool down while we use up all the wind!
Lee James Harvey - lol ..and gravity will get less and we will all float of to the stars ...
Ben Dickenson - Certainly no climate change problem. There's no doubt there's a range of environmental issues that are a result of massive over population and poor land management practices.
Chantal Booth - Is it that the weather patterns are changing BECAUSE of us or INSPITE of us...I mean I can remember things being decidedly different at different times of year when I was a kid then they changed and now they seem to be coming full circle again.... Could it possibly be that the earth has huge cycles that would have occurred anyway? Don't get me wrong, I am for anything that helps the environment but I just wonder...
Terry Grant - I'm not saying yes or no on it but I do believe that we don't know enough to have a definite opinion on it. Records of climate have only been kept for around 150 years. We need more data to give a valued opinion
Kris Maddison - No I don't.... it's like the Y2k hoax climate change is the biggest scare mongering government fraud ever, The world is going through a cycle and there's not a thing we can do about it and no amount of money that the government take off us is going to change it
Sandra Atfield - The climate is just going back to what it was 50 odd years ago.
Valarie Hawkins - I don't believe its a serious problem , there is also just as much evidence to disprove Climate Change ...
Mark Preston - The Earth's climate has always been changing. Fair call to say oil and coal burning is contributing, but we're too intrenched globally in our ways to make a difference.
Western cultures may change their ways, but Asia and Russia will keep on steaming ahead.
Who are we, who have had several hundred years head start on industrial progression, to tell them to stop doing what we did for centuries?
The Earth goes through cycles and trying to influence this is futile.
Kathy Hall - I just believe it's evolution,, we have gone thru dinosaurs and heat, we have gone thru ice age and we will continue to evolve and the earth is warming up yet again as it has done in the past... Although here in Oz this coming week u wouldn't know it with the Artic blast about to hit us...it is winter tho
Ruth Jones - What is causing it an ever bigger problem (human ignorance, greed and all things bad)
Aaron Bell - No. Because turtles are green.
Sylvia M Allen - Yes I do ... The world has a serious pollution problem and it definitely seems to be changing the weather patterns all over. But if EVERY country doesn't do something then it's not going to change. It's no good if only 2 or 3 countries try to turn things around.
Matt Barber - It's funny that people are still dumb enough to think otherwise. Probably the same people that are anti vaccination.
