READERS DISCUSS: Public displays of affection - yes or no

The Bulletin asked readers late last week: What do you think of public displays of affection? Are there some that you think are ok? Some that should remain behind closed doors?

Here are some responses:

  • Michelle Michelle - I love it! I think this world needs more of it! Showing love and affection brings promise of hope and humanity in an otherwise mundane, autonomous world ...just keep it pg.
  • Ryan Turnbull - Just besure you ask the person first....
  • Ryan Mathew Newport - Depends how far it goes, are we talking about a kiss or tearing each others clothes off?
  • Karen Bryant - If you wouldn't do it in front of Granma, then don't do it!
  • Sandy Graham - I agree with Karen Bryant. If you wouldn't do it in front of your grand parents then don't do it. Some people find it offensive. I know we have a right to if we want, but it's about respect for others.
  • Margaret Wood - Just be mindful of context and the people around you. Decorum and good manners are always a good options.
  • Chantal Booth - just no groping. rest is ok.
  • Sharron Payne - I personally don't like PDA's. That's just me though and my opinion.
  • Matthew James - Depends if your prude and asking the question?
  • Devi Rose - I went to park with my childrens 4yr n 2yrs Rocky Botanic garden they where in swing..next to them its teenager who just cant stop xyz things (finally i have to move from there)
  • Jacqualine Wagg - I think it's okay to an extent! Eating each other faces off I find quite disturbing especially if there are kids around etc!!
  • Maria Kalpaxis - Medical reasons, to stop it in schools. Will reduce headlice, viruses, and more. Just stop the touching so many germs.
  • Polly Reed - Ok as long as they don't make slurpy noises when kissing! Hate that .
  • Sam Grimshaw - If you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to look. Maybe get a life & stop trying to make the world conform to your idea of what's acceptable.
  • Grego MCcormack - Get a room
  • Joanne Coulter - I am sure most of us can figure out what should and should not be expressed in public...especially those heavily intoxicated and seem not to be aware of their surroundings...
