HOLLYWOOD actress Rachel McAdams is expecting her first child, according to reports by E! News.

The notoriously private Mean Girls star, who was romantically linked to screenwriter Jamie Linden in 2016, is yet to announce the pregnancy. The couple has kept a low profile and never confirmed their relationship, however Life & Style magazine reported that McAdams and Linden were last spotted in a restaurant in Atlanta on February 13, where a source claimed she appeared to be "at least seven months pregnant".

"Multiple sources" confirmed the baby news with E! News.

The 39-year-old Oscar nominee did not go to the premiere of her film Game Night on Wednesday, prompting further speculation.

McAdams has not been photographed at an event since she attended the Toronto International Film Festival in September last year. She was there to promote her film Disobedience.

McAdams has previously talked about her to desire to become a mother, telling People in 2009: "Having a few [kids] would be great."

She also told the magazine she hoped she'd be a lot like her own mother. "My mom is a great inspiration to me ... She's a nurse and very nurturing and gentle. She lets me be who I am. Hopefully I can take on those qualities and be as great as her."

McAdams previously dated her The Notebook co-star Ryan Gosling for several years, and has also been connected to actors Josh Lucas and Michael Sheen, and music manager Patrick Sambrook.
