The Queen returns to the public eye... briefly
QUEEN Elizabeth II has returned to the public eye, attending a Sunday church service close her Sandringham estate.
The Queen has been kept indoors at Sandringham for the past month as she dealt with a heavy cold.
The 90-year-old monarch arrived at the church to the joy of well-wishers who were waiting anxiously outside of the historic Mary Magdalene Church at Norfolk.
She was accompanied by her sprightly 95-year-old husband Prince Philip, grandson Prince William, his wife Catherine and her sister Pippa Middleton and their parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.
The Queen's jade blue coat, matching hat and stunning lapel pin helped to reassure her well-wishers that even though she was tentative, the gracious woman was able to walk unaided into the church.
The Queen's illness has stopped her participating in all public events throughout the Christmas and New Year's period.
She is expected to remain at her Norfolk estate for another month.
