IT will be a quacking day as 500 ducks are released into the ocean for the Great Fraser Coast Duck Race.

But they're not the feathered type.

The rubber duckies will be escorted in a box and released into the ocean as part of a charity raffle at the fun-filled Hope for Humanity event down at Wetside on Saturday.

Each duck will have a raffle number attached to the bottom and the lucky duck to pick the winning number will claim first prize in the raffle.

There will also be second and third prizes.

Fraser Coast's Hope for Humanity president Amanda Edwards said there wouldn't be any floating ducks or ducks out of water in the second annual event.

"We'll have a boom net for the ducks so there won't be any ducks floating away to Fraser Island," she said.

Amanda said the race which is expected to take 8-10 minutes (weather dependent), was a unique experience for the community to enjoy.

But it's not the only event that will have you duck fun going on for the event.

There will be ducky bowling games, a duck and spoon obstacle course, a celebrity duck and a colouring in competition for the kids.

You don't have to get up at the quack of dawn for the event with all the fun kicking off at 2pm followed by the big race at 3pm.

Bean Beat will also have a jumping castle as part of their first birthday celebrations as well as balloons and stalls from 6am to late.

WetSide's first night light show of the season will finish of the day of celebrations.

All funds from the duck race will go to Hervey Bay Youth Homeless Shelter and the Australian Literacy Numeracy Foundation.
